Cap Fréhel

It's said that it is possible to walk the whole coast line of France. This is a legacy from the coastal patrols by custom officers to control smuggling in the good old days. Cap Fréhel is 30 KLs from Hotel Le Cheval Blanc and the route is a costal path that includes a visit to Fort La Latte, an impressive fortress that seems to be suspended in mid-air. From here you have a grand view of the Emerald coast and then onwards to Cap Fréhel a headland of red sandstone and porphyry cliffs. Bring your binoculars with you if you want to see the thousands of sea birds nesting on the tiny islands offshore.

Dinard - St. Lunaire - St Briac - Lancieux

Dinard is 21 Kls from the Hotel Cheval Blanc. This is a costal route with fantastic beaches and sea views. Take a wander around St. Lunaire with its ancient church open to the public. Take a coffee break in St. Briac and perhaps a beer in Lancieux. On this coastal route you will find remains of military installations from world war two and views of some fairways at Dinard golf course.

Plancoet - Le Guildo - St Jacut - - St Cast Le Guildo

Ramble along beside the river L'Arguenon to Le Guildo. Here you can see the old forth in Créhen. Head on to St. Jacut and back around to St Cast le Guildo. If you still have plenty of energy left then head back the the Hotel Cheval Blanc via the market town of Matignon.

Dinan

For an inland walk why not head for the old town of DINAN which is 20 Kls from the Hotel Cheval Blanc. The old town is most atmospheric with its half timbered buildings dating from the 13th and 14th centuries. Plenty of cafes, bars, restaurants and the colourful shops of butchers, bakers and arts and crafts.

Sables-d'Or les Pins - Erquy - Le Val André

Sables d'Or les Pins is 27 Kls from the Hotel le Cheval Blanc. This is a wonderful coastal walk. Sables d'Or les Pins has a 3km-long stretch of fine white sandy beach approached through protected sand dunes and pine trees. Erquy is a fishing port with lovely beach and Le Val André has a huge beach in the broader bay of LE VAL-ANDRÉ to the west is of finer sand, and the endless pedestrian promenade that stretches along the seafront feels oddly Victorian, consisting solely of huge old houses undisturbed by shops or bars.
